Our 10-member Landscape Architecture firm located in the thriving Cool Springs market of Franklin, TN is seeking an experienced Landscape Architect. Located in the thriving Cool Springs area of Franklin, TN and within easy access to downtown Nashville, KVD is an award-winning landscape architecture, land planning and urban design firm recognized for its collaborative and team oriented professional culture with a commitment to innovative design, sustainability, and client satisfaction. Working for our firm offers the benefits of a smaller office with opportunities for professional growth (perhaps eventual ownership) while gaining experience in all aspects of the site planning and design process.

KVD’s diverse portfolio includes both public and private Clients with projects ranging in scope from large-scale land planning to site-specific design and implementation. Our project types include mixed-use development; urban infill; residential communities; plazas, parks and greenways; commercial & campus planning, water quality and some residential design. Our current and forthcoming workload includes some of the coolest projects we’ve booked to date.

Minimum Qualifications

Successful candidates will demonstrate a superior level of design skill, creativity and a passion for continued learning and professional growth. Candidates must be detail-oriented, efficient, and adaptable to changing deadlines and priorities. A pleasant, agreeable personality and the ability to work collaboratively within a project team are prerequisite...and you must like dogs.

Required Skills

Command of AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office required

Working knowledge of SketchUp and other 3-D modeling programs preferred

Excellent hand graphics, specifically at the conceptual level….yes we still design by hand

Strong oral, written and graphic communication skills….you will interact with our Clients

Excellent time-management and organizational skills

Ability to self-edit work and command a high level of accuracy

A Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture is preferred. A Master’s degree in landscape architecture with a profession affiliated Bachelor’s degree will be considered. Seeking Landscape Architect (3 - 7 Years Experience) and Landscape Designer (0 - 3 Years Experience Preferred) but new graduates eager to contribute will be strongly considered.

We are excited to announce KVD’s newest member of the family, Isaac Diaz! Please help us in welcoming Isaac to the team. Isaac is from the small, picturesque town of Del Rio in southwest Texas. A 2023 graduate of the University of Arkansas with a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture, he's been on a journey to transform outdoor spaces into works of art. Isaac's journey into landscape architecture took root during his internship at DDLA in Dallas, Texas, where he fine-tuned his craft in designing high-end residential properties. His passions within the field span far and wide, from green infrastructure and ecological restoration to afforestation and racecourse design. Overall, he is driven by a deep commitment to leaving this world a better place than how he found it. Beyond the drafting board, Isaac is a true outdoorsman at heart. It's our pleasure to introduce another new member to the KVD team, Accounting and Business Manager Rebecca! Rebecca joins our team as our resident Bean Counter, Artist Wrangler, Treat Giver, and Mistress of the Files. She loves being surrounded by creative people and doing her part to help make the world a little more green. She is originally from New Orleans, LA, which mostly explains her love of lush green spaces, beautiful art, Halloween, and excellent seafood. It does not explain her love of organization, logic, and computer software. After living in various states over the last 20 years, she has made her home in the Nashville area with her family and loud/ opinionated Siberian husky. When she isn’t labeling everything with a purple pen, you can find Rebecca on the local trails, out in her garden, cooking something for a large group, planning her Halloween display, going to Disney, or reading a ridiculously long book in a short amount of time. Earlier this week KVD had a fun field trip up to the neuhoff_district in Nashville! Neuhoff is a new mixed-use site along the Cumberland River in historic Germantown. Originally home to Nashville's meat-packing district, this site will now feature office, retail, multi-family space, an amphitheater, outdoor entertainment space, and direct riverfront access. It was inspiring to see Neuhoff reusing salvaged brick, stone and other remnants of the original meat-packing plant. As Landscape Architects and Designers, having these amenities in our own backyard is so exciting! We are delighted to add another friendly face to our KVD family; please help us officially welcome our newest Senior Landscape Designer and Project Manager, Kaylynn! Kay is a well-traveled adventurer whose Landscape Architecture career has taken her from coast to coast, Italy, The Southwest, and the Southeast. Joining KVD in 2022, she is excited to leave her mark on the Nashville landscape! This New Jersey native graduated with her BLA from Penn State (where she met Katie) in 2012. Kaylynn has worked with a spectrum of project types including healthcare, hospitality, multifamily and municipal recreation spaces and has been recognized on several award-winning projects. She is especially proud of her work on healing gardens and wellness spaces. Kay is an engaged mentor and champion of creating a nurturing and vibrant office culture. In her free time, she enjoys boating and traveling/camping with her husband and daughter in addition to renovating and flipping homes. Her most recent project is restoring a 1930’s craftsman in the heart of Nashville – her new primary residence! From a luxury pool and a dog park, to linear pocket parks, this new development has a lot to offer and all within walking distance of your front door. The designs incorporate curvilinear forms to create outdoor rooms that allow for flexible use of each space, whether you're working on your laptop or hanging with friends. The pool and grilling areas were designed to break up the spaces for year-round use and have been a huge hit for the Town Center residents. The dog park has also become a highly utilized feature that the dogs (and resident's) love!

KVD is happy to welcome our summer Intern, Rajith Kumar! Rajith comes from Anakapalle, India. In India, he worked as a professional licensed architect at a well-known local architectural firm. His interests in sustainable outdoor practices led him to pursue a master’s degree in landscape architecture. Rajith enrolled as a graduate student in fall 2021 at the University of Oklahoma, while also working part time as a graduate research assistant at Gibbs college of architecture. He has successfully completed his first year of education and is excited to have landed at KVD for a summer internship! After office hours Rajith works on his website blog, Archinker.in. His other hobbies include sketching, painting, digital graphic designing and travelling. Abigail is particularly interested in issues involving urban tree canopy, sustainability, and access to green space to better the communities she works with. We are excited to announce KVD’s newest member of the family, Isaac Diaz! Please help us in welcoming Isaac to the team. Isaac is from the small, picturesque town of Del Rio in southwest Texas. A 2023 graduate of the University of Arkansas with a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture, he's been on a journey to transform outdoor spaces into works of art. Isaac's journey into landscape architecture took root during his internship at DDLA in Dallas, Texas, where he fine-tuned his craft in designing high-end residential properties. His passions within the field span far and wide, from green infrastructure and ecological restoration to afforestation and racecourse design. Overall, he is driven by a deep commitment to leaving this world a better place than how he found it. Beyond the drafting board, Isaac is a true outdoorsman at heart. If you didn’t know… KVD has designed projects throughout the United States alongside many different clients. These include our senior housing projects, which have been wrapping up all over the country. We recently celebrated the completion of @rlcommunities newest independent senior living development project, Vista Park Retirement Community, located in North Las Vegas, Nevada! Senior housing is a much-needed product type missing in our nation's housing market. It's our pleasure to introduce another new member to the KVD team, Accounting and Business Manager Rebecca! Rebecca joins our team as our resident Bean Counter, Artist Wrangler, Treat Giver, and Mistress of the Files. She loves being surrounded by creative people and doing her part to help make the world a little more green. She is originally from New Orleans, LA, which mostly explains her love of lush green spaces, beautiful art, Halloween, and excellent seafood. It does not explain her love of organization, logic, and computer software. After living in various states over the last 20 years, she has made her home in the Nashville area with her family and loud/ opinionated Siberian husky. When she isn’t labeling everything with a purple pen, you can find Rebecca on the local trails, out in her garden, cooking something for a large group, planning her Halloween display, going to Disney, or reading a ridiculously long book in a short amount of time. Earlier this week KVD had a fun field trip up to the neuhoff_district in Nashville! Neuhoff is a new mixed-use site along the Cumberland River in historic Germantown. Originally home to Nashville's meat-packing district, this site will now feature office, retail, multi-family space, an amphitheater, outdoor entertainment space, and direct riverfront access. It was inspiring to see Neuhoff reusing salvaged brick, stone and other remnants of the original meat-packing plant. As Landscape Architects and Designers, having these amenities in our own backyard is so exciting! Kay is a well-traveled adventurer whose Landscape Architecture career has taken her from coast to coast, Italy, The Southwest, and the Southeast. Joining KVD in 2022, she is excited to leave her mark on the Nashville landscape! This New Jersey native graduated with her BLA from Penn State (where she met Katie) in 2012. Kaylynn has worked with a spectrum of project types including healthcare, hospitality, multifamily and municipal recreation spaces and has been recognized on several award-winning projects. She is especially proud of her work on healing gardens and wellness spaces. Kay is an engaged mentor and champion of creating a nurturing and vibrant office culture. From a luxury pool and a dog park, to linear pocket parks, this new development has a lot to offer and all within walking distance of your front door. The designs incorporate curvilinear forms to create outdoor rooms that allow for flexible use of each space, whether you're working on your laptop or hanging with friends. The pool and grilling areas were designed to break up the spaces for year-round use and have been a huge hit for the Town Center residents. The dog park has also become a highly utilized feature that the dogs (and resident's) love!

KVD is happy to welcome our summer Intern, Rajith Kumar! Rajith comes from Anakapalle, India. In India, he worked as a professional licensed architect at a well-known local architectural firm. His interests in sustainable outdoor practices led him to pursue a master’s degree in landscape architecture. Rajith enrolled as a graduate student in fall 2021 at the University of Oklahoma, while also working part time as a graduate research assistant at Gibbs college of architecture. He has successfully completed his first year of education and is excited to have landed at KVD for a summer internship! After office hours Rajith works on his website blog, Archinker.in. His other hobbies include sketching, painting, digital graphic designing and travelling.
