At KVD, our leadership team is the cornerstone of our success, guiding our firm with expertise and passion. Dwight Kiser and Gary Vogrin founded KVD in 2010, bringing together decades of experience to establish a firm dedicated to creating dynamic outdoor spaces across the Southeast and beyond. Chris Wood joined KVD in 2014 as a Senior Project Manager and became a partner in 2018. With over 20 years in the landscape architecture industry, Chris enhances KVD’s reputation for quality work by leveraging new technologies and thought processes to create influential designs for projects. He also mentors the KVD staff in site design, landscape and irrigation design, and construction documents and detailing. Katie Rudowsky Garrett joined the firm in 2014 and has been instrumental in designing high-profile projects in Middle Tennessee and nationwide. Her dedication and expertise led to her becoming a partner in 2022, further strengthening our leadership team. Exciting times ahead in Nashville’s SoBro neighborhood as @Mortenson_construction breaks ground on the new @MottobyHilton Downtown Hotel! KVD is thrilled to be a part of turning this mid-block site into a vibrant and innovative space, contributing to the dynamic energy of downtown Nashville. With sustainability as a Motto brand focus, this compact site features 260 micro-hotel rooms that deliver guests what they need in a more environmentally friendly footprint. Boasting a 600 SF green roof and permeable concrete pavers in the drive isle, the hotel will be able to mitigate and treat stormwater on site. Last week the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted to APPROVE the Middle Eight’s development plan and the second reading of the property’s rezoning from Residential to Planned District. It's our pleasure to introduce another new member to the KVD team, Accounting and Business Manager Rebecca! Rebecca joins our team as our resident Bean Counter, Artist Wrangler, Treat Giver, and Mistress of the Files. She loves being surrounded by creative people and doing her part to help make the world a little more green. She is originally from New Orleans, LA, which mostly explains her love of lush green spaces, beautiful art, Halloween, and excellent seafood. It does not explain her love of organization, logic, and computer software. After living in various states over the last 20 years, she has made her home in the Nashville area with her family and loud/ opinionated Siberian husky. When she isn’t labeling everything with a purple pen, you can find Rebecca on the local trails, out in her garden, cooking something for a large group, planning her Halloween display, going to Disney, or reading a ridiculously long book in a short amount of time. Earlier this week KVD had a fun field trip up to the neuhoff_district in Nashville! Neuhoff is a new mixed-use site along the Cumberland River in historic Germantown. Originally home to Nashville's meat-packing district, this site will now feature office, retail, multi-family space, an amphitheater, outdoor entertainment space, and direct riverfront access. It was inspiring to see Neuhoff reusing salvaged brick, stone and other remnants of the original meat-packing plant. As Landscape Architects and Designers, having these amenities in our own backyard is so exciting! We are delighted to add another friendly face to our KVD family; please help us officially welcome our newest Senior Landscape Designer and Project Manager, Kaylynn! Kay is a well-traveled adventurer whose Landscape Architecture career has taken her from coast to coast, Italy, The Southwest, and the Southeast. Joining KVD in 2022, she is excited to leave her mark on the Nashville landscape! This New Jersey native graduated with her BLA from Penn State (where she met Katie) in 2012. Kaylynn has worked with a spectrum of project types including healthcare, hospitality, multifamily and municipal recreation spaces and has been recognized on several award-winning projects. She is especially proud of her work on healing gardens and wellness spaces. Kay is an engaged mentor and champion of creating a nurturing and vibrant office culture. In her free time, she enjoys boating and traveling/camping with her husband and daughter in addition to renovating and flipping homes. Her most recent project is restoring a 1930’s craftsman in the heart of Nashville – her new primary residence! From a luxury pool and a dog park, to linear pocket parks, this new development has a lot to offer and all within walking distance of your front door. The designs incorporate curvilinear forms to create outdoor rooms that allow for flexible use of each space, whether you're working on your laptop or hanging with friends. The pool and grilling areas were designed to break up the spaces for year-round use and have been a huge hit for the Town Center residents. The dog park has also become a highly utilized feature that the dogs (and resident's) love!

We're excited to welcome our newest landscape designer, Abigail Welp, to the KVD team! Abigail is from Northern Kentucky, but recently graduated from the University of Kentucky in Lexington. She graduated from UK in 2022 with honors and a major in landscape architecture. While in school she interned at the Boone County Arboretum and with the UK Landscape Architecture Department. Abigail is particularly interested in issues involving urban tree canopy, sustainability, and access to green space to better the communities she works with. In her free time Abigail loves spending time outdoors.
